How do you pronounce SALTR?

Great question! It is pronounced like the name "Walter". it is made using Nordic Runic characters representing "ancestral", "family", "sea". It is also the Viking name for "salt"...inspired by the Norwegian orgin of our first ingredient and the heritage of our co-founders Scott and Amy.

At SALTR, we understand our products may cost more than some larger, mass-market electrolyte brands, mineral products, or organ supplements. The short answer? We choose better ingredients, cleaner formulations, and a higher standard—even when it costs us more.

Unlike multinational companies producing at massive scale, SALTR was built from the ground up and fully self-funded by our founders. That means every step was intentional towards quality—from food scientists, formulations, third party testing, to regulatory guidance with manufacturing and packaging.  It takes a team to manage it all – sales, marketing, ecommerce,  fulfillment, customer service, and warehouse operations—has been thoughtfully invested in without outside funding. Every customer purchase allows us to reinvest back into our mission - to create a safer, premium line of products you can be proud to use. Quality first.

We also believe in building a business the right way. That means paying fair wages to our employees, working with trusted manufacturing partners, and operating as lean as possible while maintaining high standards. Even a lean small business comes with real costs. Larger corporations benefit from massive production runs and economies of scale that dramatically lower their cost per unit. As a growing micro business, those same cost savings simply are not possible…yet.

We also make intentional choices about what goes into our products. Our electrolytes are powered by premium hand harvested sea salt and formulated with carefully selected mineral sources chosen for bioavailability and function. Our mineral salts and organ blends follow the same philosophy: thoughtfully sourced ingredients, purposeful formulations, with no cheap fillers, anti-caking agents, or artificial shortcuts.

The better question may not always be “Why does this cost more?” but rather “What choices were made to make something cost less?” In many cases, lower prices are achieved through lower-cost ingredients, fillers, artificial additives, less expensive mineral forms, or large-scale efficiencies that simply aren’t available to a growing company like ours. Every brand makes choices. We choose to prioritize ingredient quality, flavor, and cleaner formulations—even when it means our costs are higher.

At the end of the day, we believe there is an important difference between cost and value. We’re not apologizing for our pricing, because our mission has never been to create the cheapest products on the market. Our goal is to create products with exceptional flavor profiles, thoughtfully sourced ingredients, cleaner formulations, and standards we can stand behind. We hope customers find value not only in what’s inside the package, but also in the care, integrity, and intention behind every product we make.

We know SALTR may not be the cheapest option on the shelf—and that’s okay. If price alone is the deciding factor, there are lower-cost alternatives. How much water do I use?

Everyone has a different palette when it comes to flavor and sweetness. The recommended amount water ranges from 16-20 oz. We love the taste at about 20oz cold water per serving (Remember, each stick contains 1-2 servings, depending on the flavor).

You can create your own taste profile by how much you sprinkle - the goal is to get electrolyte minerals and water in to your body for better hydration.

For our SALTED CARAMEL COFFEE, one packet equals one serving. Feel free to add or subtract the amount of powder you use based on your hydration needs. You may wish to add or subtract water also based on the potency of taste preferences.

Why do some of your flavors have 2 servings per stick pack?

We designed our packets to give you flexibility—some people prefer a lighter mix, while others use a full packet for larger water volumes. This allows you to customize your hydration.

WE BELIEVE IN TRANSPARANCY, here's more: The manufacturing of a stick pack is very expensive. We also use a more premium sea salt than other brands (over 20 times more expensive than basic table salt/sodium chloride). By putting 2 servings in the TART LIME, GRAPEFRUIT and UNFLAVORED, we were able to avoid using fillers and stay price competitive with cleaner ingredients per serving versus other major brands on the market.

As we grow, we will have more options for single-servings (new equipment options) and bulk jars with a scoop. We will also benefit from volume pricing as our manufacturing grows to the levels of the single-serving brands.

If you want to take SALTR on the go, fold the packet over twice and tuck it into a pocket or your wallet. It says perfectly sealed and can stay with you when you're on the go.

Where do you source your salt?

We're very proud of what should be the key ingredient in any electrolyte mix. Our salt is brought to us all the way from the pure remote waterways off the island of Gossen, Norway. Founded in Norway by an American woman passionate about salt, she and her team evaporate and hand-harvest the sea salt flakes from the cold Norwegian Sea.

When is the best time to drink SALTR?

Some people like to introduce electrolytes during or after a workout or while fasting. Sometimes you just need to introduce electrolytes throughout the day while on a low-carb or keto diet. Sometimes you may just want a healthy tasty drink and SALTR can help quench those cravings for you. Take them as needed. All of our products are zero calories and sugar free.

How are your natural flavors made? Do they contain maltodextrin?

At SALTR, we are very aware of the concerns from consumers in light of recent issues with other hydration brands misrepresenting the amount of maltodextrin used in their manufacturing processes. This is why we intentionally formulated our products with the cleanest, most thoughtfully sourced ingredients possible—without shortcuts, unnecessary additives, or misleading claims.

Along with our food scientest, we formulated our recipes with the lowest amount of maltodextrin possible while still creating a flavored hydration product people would genuinely enjoy drinking.

The reality is that manufacturing flavored drink mixes at scale without ingredients like maltodextrin is extremely difficult, and in many cases, nearly impossible. That said, we have intentionally formulated with the least amount possible while prioritizing flavor stability, consistency, and functionality.

NATURAL FLAVORS: Our natural flavors are created using compounds and amino acids that already exist in nature and are combined to mirror how flavor naturally occurs in real foods. This allows us to create flavor profiles like Tart Lime, Grapefruit, and Salted Caramel Coffee without artificial flavors, synthetic sweeteners, or added sugars.

MALTODEXTRIN: While food manufacturing has real-world limitations, certain ingredients such as maltodextrin may be present in trace amounts as functional carriers used in the production of natural flavor systems. In our formulations, it is not used as a filler ingredient, but rather as a drying and flow agent that helps stabilize flavor compounds during manufacturing.

We third party tested our flavored products to determine the levels of Maltodextrin content. All our products fall within the range between 0-0.416g per serving.

All SALTR products are built around one of the cleanest seas and salts on the planet. Our third-party heavy metal testing on our drink powders returned undetectable levels of lead and mold, supporting our commitment to purity, transparency, and responsibly sourced ingredients.

We understand that ingredient preferences vary from person to person. We thank you for your consideration. What is the difference between SALTR'S UNFLAVORED STICK PACKS and ELECTROLYTE+ MINERAL SEA SALT?

Our ELECTROLYTE+ products are made with magnesium malate and potassium chloride, in lower quantities of magnesium and potassium compared to the amount of magnesium and potassium in higher quantities from the UNFLAVORED stick packs using magnesium glycinate and potassium gluconate.

ELECTROLYTE+ FLAKE MINERAL SEA SALT: 300mg sodium, 17mg Magnesium, 34mg Potassium per serving

UNFLAVORED STICK PACK: 360mg sodium, 50mg Magnesium, 100mg Potassium

Both products contain clean Norwegian Sea Salt, with magnesium and potassium. The amounts and source of those minerals vary between the two product offerings. 

Do SALTR electrolytes work with fasting or ketosis?

Our electrolytes are built around exceptionally clean Norwegian sea salt and highly bioavailable forms of magnesium glycinate and potassium gluconate, selected to support effective hydration and mineral absorption. These foundational ingredients are the same across our lineup.

Fasting and ketosis, however, are highly personal and can vary based on individual goals and protocols. For those following a strict fast or clean hydration routine, we recommend choosing one of our unflavored electrolyte options, which contain only minerals and no additional components.

Our flavored varieties include very small amounts of natural flavor components made with amino acids and modified tapioca starch for mixability. While suitable for everyday hydration, individuals seeking the most minimal approach may prefer unflavored options.

Best choices for strict fasting or ketosis:

Has the freeze dried coffee used in your SALTED CARAMEL COFFEE been tested for mold and lead?

Great news, third party lab testing shows undetectable levels of mold and lead in our SALTED CARAMEL COFFEE.

Has SALTR tested for microplastics?

We believe in transparency and don’t hide behind generic statements about third party lab testing. Most companies won’t even test their salts because what they don’t know can’t hurt them.

We are anxiously awaiting results of our third party testing. Please check back mid May. Until then, here are the results on third party testing of our foundational first ingredient: Norwegian Sea Salt.

To quote an article in MEDIUM, "Microplastics— Found in 90% of global salt products at 7–174 particles per kilogram⁸⁻⁹."

Third party testing results on Norwegian Sea Salt reported results of only 3 particles per kilogram. This is significantly lower than over 90% of globally sourced sea salt.

To better understand what was present in our sea salt, testing was conducted for approximately 20 different polymer types.

Of the 20 polymers tested, only one naturally occurring and man-made polymer type was detected at a trace amount. Notably, higher levels of this polymer are commonly found in tap water.

Testing results will vary from batch to batch, and from season to season as the sea and its currents are forever changing — literally as the wind blows. 

Natural and man-made polymers are now present throughout the environment, including air, water, and food systems.

While it is not realistic for any natural evaporated sea salt to be completely free from environmental impact, microplastic and heavy metal testing confirms that our salt is exceptionally cleaner by comparison to other global brands and aligns with our standards for purity, transparency, and responsible sourcing.

How is your citric acid different?

We source our citric acid from real fruit like citrus, dates and pomegranates rather than gmo corn, high fructose corn syrups, and industrial sugar byproducts.

If you have concerns about how industrial citric acid is made, we have third party lab testing to confirm that our products are UNDETECTABLE FOR MOLD.

If you prefer products with no citric acid, please try our Salted Caramel Coffee, Unflavored or our Electrolyte+ Flake Sea Salt.

How are your minerals different?

FLAVORED and UNFLAVORED STICK PACKS: Our flavored and unflavored stick packs are made with Norwegian sea salt, potassium gluconate and magnesium glycinate. These are more bioavailable than most other forms and easier on digestion.

ELECTROLYTE+ MINERAL SEA SALT: Our FLAKE version of our mineral sea salt is made with Norwegian sea salt, and supportive levels of magnesium malate (17mg) and potassium chloride (34mg).

When will SALTR products be available in jars?

SALTR officially launched in November 2025, and we share your interest in offering jars of our flavored electrolytes as we grow. Our current plan is to introduce them sometime in FALL 2026. We do have a refill pouch and a 1# jug of our ELECTROLYTE+ Flake Sea Salt available.

Can I return my order, or get a refund?

We are proud of the taste of our products, but we understand not everyone will share in our enthusiasm. Since SALTR products are a consumable food product, we are unable to accept returns or issue refunds based on taste, sweetness level, or flavor preference. We truly appreciate your understanding.

Perhaps a friend or family member will enjoy the flavor and can enjoy them.

Refund & Return Policy

Due to the nature of our products, all sales are final.

We do not accept returns or provide refunds for products that have been opened, used, consumed, or purchased in error.

Damaged, Defective, or Incorrect Items

If you receive a product that is damaged during transit, defective upon arrival, or incorrect due to our error, please contact us within 10 days of delivery at info@livesaltr.com

To be eligible for consideration, you must provide:

  • Your order number or reply from your order confirmation email
  • A description of the issue
  • Clear photographs of the product, packaging, packing slip and shipping label

Claims submitted after 10 days of delivery may not be eligible for review.

Upon verification of the issue, we may, at our sole discretion:

  • Replace the affected product
  • Issue store credit
  • Issue a refund

We reserve the right to request return of the affected product before issuing any replacement, store credit, or refund.

Non-Refundable Situations

Due to food safety regulations and quality control standards, all food sales are final. We cannot accept returns or exchanges on food products once they have left our facility. This policy helps ensure the safety, integrity, and freshness of every product we sell.

 Refunds, returns, replacements, or credits will not be provided for:

  • New, unopened, opened or used products
  • Products consumed in whole or in part
  • Flavor preference or taste dissatisfaction
  • Failure to achieve desired results
  • Orders placed incorrectly by the customer
  • Subscription orders that were not canceled before the next billing date
  • Shipping delays caused by carriers
  • Packages marked as delivered by the carrier
  • Normal product variation in color, texture, or appearance
  • Improper storage or handling after delivery

Initiating a chargeback for a delivered order without first contacting our support team may be considered a violation of this policy.

How do I manage my subscription?

Click the Manage Subscription link at the top of our website to view your current subscription plan and options. Please note that some subscription options have a minimum number of orders required to benefit from the discounted price. Prepaid subscriptions can be cancelled, but the shipments that were prepaid will be sent according to the original agreement. If the subscription is cancelled, it will terminate future auto renewals.

I live in Canada. Can I get SALTR shipped here?

Yes, we do offering shipping to Canada through CANADA POST. The price for this service will be calculated at checkout.
